Why Osun State Has Two First Ladies

Published

on

In an interesting twist, the State of the Living Spring, Osun is unique in all ramifications.

The State which is under the firm grip of Governor Demola Adeleke known as the ‘dancing Senator’ has fared well in the eyes of criticism and bad publicity, the latest is the choice of Governor Adeleke granting both his wives the authority to perform as First Ladies.

It is interesting to know that the Governor’s first wife, Titilola and his second wife, Ngozi both perform in official capacity.

While Titi who is the first wife has an upper hand as she is recognized as the First Lady in the committee of First Ladies in Nigeria, the other wife, Ngozi also wields  influence as those in the know claims she gets the approval of the Governor faster than any other person in the affairs of things both at home and in the government.

The First wife operates the First Lady’s office in a living room inside the Governor’s country home in Ede and she has her security team, protocol officers and media team.

The other wife, Ngozi who is the mother of musicians ‘Sina Rambo and ‘B-Red’ also enjoys the use of official cars and security while attending public events as a ‘First Lady’.

The jostle as to who fits the First Lady role was noticed not long after Adeleke obtained the governorship mantle from his predecessor, Gboyega Oyetola, he attended a function with Titilola. In that function, she was addressed as the First Lady of Osun and she made many promises, capping them with her intentions to represent the interest of the women, youths, and children in the state.

Interestingly, just a few days before, Ngozi also took time out to hail Osun women for coming out to support her husband during his inauguration as Governor. She also promised, on behalf of her husband, to see their needs met and their hopes and aspirations secured with good works.

It is interesting to know that both women carry on their duties without a fight or verbal attack, an intriguing aspect of how the Osun State Governor, Senator Demola Adeleke was able to have things under control.
