‘under the table’ Deal! Jide Omokore Forfeits London Properties, To Return $1B To FG

President Buhari’s anti-corruption crusade is gathering momentum by the day and the latest big fish caught in the hook is controversial businessman, Jide Omokore who is presently dancing to the tune of the EFCC judging from a clandestine deal he struck with the commission to refund part of the $6B loot which he allegedly took from proceeds of crude oil sales which he shared with some other high-profile individuals who are also answering questions from the EFCC.
Jide Omokore’s cover was said to have blown open when the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Sanusi Lamido implicated him in a massive looting scheme where he was said to have ‘protected’ the interest of the former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke.
A source revealed to papermache that the flamboyant businessman is to return $1B, a house in Paddington, London, a property in Maitama Street, Abuja, his private jet, luxury cars and some other belongings worth millions of naira.
The searchlight beamed on the businessman when it was revealed that he was one of the closest people to the former Minister for Petroleum who is at the moment on a sickbed in the United Kingdom.
Omokore is said to have negotiated a soft landing when his passport and that of his banker wife, Angela Ebagua were seized by the EFCC, an action that made him realise he had no alternative than to co-operate with the EFCC.
The businessman is further alleged to be engaged in fuel subsidy scams and shady dealings which involved the acquisition of private jets for both Alison-Madueke and ex-President Jonathan.
Omokore has reportedly perfected a bargain to return the loot without attracting the usual media focus and is presently giving useful information to the EFCC on all other dealings he was involved in.
