The Underground Plot; Insiders Tip Abike Dabiri As Sanwo-Olu’s Running Mate

In Lagos politics today, the APC flagbearer Babajide Sanwo-olu is the man of the moment. The former Commissioner that defeated the incumbent Governor, Akinwumi Ambode in the APC gubernatorial primaries is enjoying the courtship of politicians, businessmen, entertainers and the ordinary Lagosians who have started treating him as the new Governor immediately after the National Working Committee upheld the primary results, and like a new bride the politician is enjoying every moment of it.
It is disclosed that there is an urgent need within the party to find a trusted, qualified running mate for the flagbearer and as it is the tradition of the party to field a woman as the running mate, several names of female prominent politicians in Lagos is being considered.
Insiders hinted that the name topping the list is ex broadcaster and the Special Adviser to the President on Diaspora Matters, Abike Dabiri.
Dabiri, from Ikorodu is the official compere of the APC during all their conventions. The ex-journalist who rose to the peak of her career before delving into politics is regarded the best woman for the job.
In her part, the female politician has also been reaching out while also making peace with party stalwarts and faithfuls who she perceives could go against her.
There are also some concerns that the Lagos Governorship is slotted for Ikorodu by 2023, thus explaining why some party faithfuls are against her emergence as they thought making her the Deputy-Governor would place her in a better position when the time comes and she could be Lagos first Female Governor.
With all these permutations and scheming, APC chieftain and the unrivaled strongman of Lagos politics, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is keeping sealed lips and watches as the drama unfolds.
