Details have emerged how  the Alaafin of Oyo , Oba Lamidi Adeyemi who joined his ancestors some days ago actually died.

The first class monarch, an influential figure in both the politics of Oyo State and Nigeria at large was said to have sustained an arm injury after a fall at the palace.

According to one of his subjects ‘you know Baba is very energetic, we were surprised when he fell and broke his arm. Surprising to us, the wound was not healing and he was complaining of pains and that was how he was taken to Afe Babalola Hospital in Ekiti, and it came as a surprise when he heard the news of his death’.

The ex pugilist was a fitness addict who at 83 still maintain a physical routine to keep in shape. He doesn’t drink and he maintained a good eating habit, so his sudden death came as a shock to his numerous aides, associates and family members who thought the monarch would live longer than he was.

Unknown to many, the late monarch had long prepared for his death long before the time.

In a narrative by one of the closest people to him, Festus Adedayo. The journalist highlighted one of his visits to the Alaafin where the ‘Iku Baba Yeye’ hinted that the plane that was sent to convey him to world beyond was already at the tarmac and that he was only waiting for his boarding pass.

The monarch who many suspected must have had a premonition of his death in his words also said he already marked a burial spot for himself with further claims that the Oyomesi, the head chiefs and his subjects know what to do with his corpse.

The revelation brought to rest many rumours surrounding the sudden passage of the great monarch who ruled his kingdom with love and fear for 53 years.

As expected, his Oyo palace has become a mecca of sort to the high and mighty who converged in the ancient town to pay their last respect to the deceased.
