Why Makinde’s Deputy, Bayo Lawal’s ‘Asiwaju Ni Wa’ Chant Unsettles APC, Folarin In Oyo

– Femi Salako

The chant of the first line of Ibadan anthem ‘Asiwaju ni wa ni ipinle Oyo’ by the Deputy-Governor of Oyo State, Bayo Lawal is said to be giving sleepless night to many as it interprets the direction in the coming 2023 elections in Oyo State.

The chants by the politician was made recently in Ondo State when the leadership of Afenifere met at the home of its leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti to endorse the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress. Lawal represented Governor Seyi Makinde in the meeting where he claimed ‘whenever there is a event, either organised by Afenifere or any other Yoruba group, Gov Makinde will always be supportive. Though we are not of the same political affiliation, but we are bound by ethnicity.

Lawal’s remarks at the meeting had a huge impact in Oyo State as many believed his message was a validation of what to come judging by the prediction that the Oyo State Governor would work with Tinubu to actualise his ambition to become the President instead of Atiku Abubakar who is the flagbearer of his party, PDP.

The indication also had a strong effect in the camp of Senator Teslim Folarin, the governorship candidate of the APC in Oyo State.

The permutation which many believed was one of the conditions given at the earlier meeting with Tinubu by Governor Nyesom Wike and Seyi Makinde had to do with the governorship elections in Oyo State in 2023.

Some pundits who observed that Governor Makinde is taking everything easy with the mind of a guaranteed success advised he should not be too comfortable citing surprises and historical political events in the past, also with regards that the presidential election precedes the governorship election.

‘I don’t need you to win Oyo’ ‘Want you to mend fences with Amaechi’ (insiders recall Tinubu’s meeting with Makinde, Wike)

A source has revealed to papermacheonline the details of the meetings between Governor Nyesom Wike, Governor Seyi Makinde and the APC presidential flagbearer, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu towards 2023.

Tinubu was claimed to have accepted that he needs the total support of Wike to win the South South but gave some conditions regarding Rotimi Amaechi which he gave the Rivers State Governor the reason for them to settle their differences.

In his words to the Oyo State governor, the APC stalwart confessed his admiration but pointed out that he doesn’t really need help to win Oyo State, but calls for every support Makinde could render.

Wike while giving details to newsmen on his meeting with Tinubu claimed its in the interest of Nigeria, but those in the know revealed that the Rivers governor came with his own demands and conditions which the Tinubu group is critically going through.

The Tinubu group is said to have advised that the party give all supports to the flagbearer in Oyo state, Senator Teslim Folarin thus not considering working with the Oyo State governor other than on personal terms and agreement.

It is believed that the PDP governors are not willing to work with Atiku, their party’s presidential candidate for obvious reasons.

In a twist to the whole plan, the Atiku campaign group recently made the Oyo State governor, Makinde the Vice Chairman of its campaign group.

Top aides of Governor Makinde while being probed by papermacheonline to know the stand of their principal in the coming elections claimed all the plans and mode of operation of Governor Makinde will soon unfold.

Amaechi May Dump APC! Insiders Reveal

There are strong indications that the former Minister for Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi is perfecting plans to dump the APC where he contested its presidency ticket for another party.

This is coming from what is tagged the former Minister’s fury towards the public romance of Governor Nyesom Wike and top members of the APC.

It is a known fact that Wike and Amaechi are sworn enemies.

Some loyalists of the former Rivers State Governor hinted that the public romance with Wike by some APC chieftains was seen as a plot to ridicule him in what he termed a move to get back at him for contesting the APC presidential ticket.

The flagbearer of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is alleged of the plot to ridicule Amaechi who came second in the primary election to select the presidential candidate of the APC.

It was alleged that the Tinubu camp bypassed Amaechi and plan to work with Wike to achieve victory in the presidential elections.

Tinubu’s camp were said to have realised Amaechi cannot be trusted, judging by past experience and have decided to work with Wike.

There is also an angle of Magnus Abe who is said to be one of Tinubu’s ‘boys’.

Loyalists of Amaechi are claimed to be wrapping up plans to dump the APC and pitch their tent with another party.

The PDP, who has Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as its flagbearer is tipped as their next destination.

It is said there’s a plan for Atiku to meet Amaechi so they can both reach a conclusion before Amaechi can unveil his move.

Governor Nyesom Wike had earlier stated he could invite anyone that pleases him for his commissioning after the noise that greeted his invitation of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State to commission some projects in Rivers.

In the past few weeks, APC strong members likeGovernor Aliyu Wamakko of Sokoto,  Kayode Fayemi, Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila and some others have met with Wike in a manner considered as a romance for him to work with APC.

Osinbajo vs Tinubu – Decades Of Betrayal and Uncertainty – Abimbola Davis

The emergence of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has no doubt changed the political calculations of so many pundits. Although since expected, most believed Pastor Osinbajo would never contest against his benefactor and political leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Some schools of thought even believe that as a Christian,  he contesting against the man who made him politically would be another story of Jesus and Judas Iscariot. But it has happened. The question is “does Osinbajo have a right to the Presidency?” Yes, he does. Morally and considering his relationship with Asiwaju, has he a right? Well, some believe he has no right, in fact, some believe he has bitten the finger that fed him. Many people also blame Pastor Adeboye, the General Overseer of the RCCG. They blamed him for his failure  to caution and advise the Vice President not to venture into such an ambition. Some even believe he led the VP into the pool that might lead to embarrassment and disgrace. They justified this by the Political Department set up by Adeboye at RCCG. In this article, I have decided to write briefly on why Professor Osinbajo, the Vice President, may find it difficult to defeat Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Yoruba people are known for their hatred for betrayals. It is worth of note that this will come into play in Tinubu-Osinbajo candidacy. As of today, it is difficult to convince an unlettered Yoruba man or woman that Osinbajo contesting against Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is not a betrayal. It is a battle the Vice President needs to fight. A stigma that even the power of anointing of the General Overseer of the RCCG, Pastor Adeboye cannot easily remove.
Second is the religious bigotry aspect. It is a known fact that Northerners do not play with Islam. In that regard,  the personality of the Vice President and the action of Pastor Adeboye in setting up a Political Wing of RCCG would never be advantageous to the candidate of Pastor Adeboye but rather, a very huge disadvantage and burden. It is a fact that the Christ Apostolic Church may not follow RCCG under Adeboye, neither will Celestial Church or Cherubim and Seraphim. The reason is simple, Pentecostal see them as unholy! Forget CAN and their money-making and relevance-seeking vibes. Watch this line very well as things will start unfolding very soon. It is important also to note that even within RCCG, millions of people are in support of Asiwaju as they would be of PDP candidate and Osinbajo.
Polio Scandal: If you will recall, during the first term campaign of this government, a huge scandal on Polio-Pfizer-Osinbajo reared its head but was nipped in the bud by the Tinubu media warriors. It will come again, this time verocious than you can imagine. The question is, can the VP handle such? I doubt it.
Political Structure: The Vice President has none! The ladders of political successes of this government still reside with Asiwaju. He is loved more in the North beyond our imaginations. He has supported many of them and unlike the Southerners, the Northerners are always ready to reciprocate such love. I doubt if Osinbajo, the VP, can boast of that.
Simple Political Calculation:  How is Presidential Election decided in Nigeria? Just 4 states. Lagos, Kano, Kaduna and Rivers. As good as it looks, the South West and Eastern votes barely has any effect. The winner only counts on the two-third of the states. How many friends has the VP built or made that can assist in these areas?
Elites: They are pundits who do not vote! Electioneering is beyond book codes. The voters in the North believe and eternally believe in their leaders. Unfortunately,  our votes in the South-west will be shared.
Oodua Nation: It will not help either Asiwaju or VP Osinbajo as none of them is seen to have canvassed support for its realisation. Anyway, to both of them, being a President is bigger and better than being a regional leader.
Presidency: This is a key factor and the only factor that can swing the votes either way. The power of the President of Nigeria is enormous. Until Mr. President decides where his pendulum is swinging, none of the aspirants can say clearly that he is 30% sure of his position. The question remains, who is the President  supporting? Or, is there a candidate yet to be unveiled? Keep guessing.
For now, except something goes wrong, I can’t see His Excellency,  Osinbajo defeating Asiwaju in any area.

What Many Don’t Know About Osinbajo’s Presidential Ambition (the Femi Ojodu’s connection)

-Jide George

The declaration by the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo where he stated in clear terms why he wants to become the President of Nigeria in 2023 has generated a lot of concerns, but unknown to many, there is a lot than meets the eye in the ambition of a man that wants the job of his boss.

Long before his declaration, there were doubts as to where the Vice-President stands considering his silence on the tales making the rounds that he was going to slug it out for the APC ticket with his godfather, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu who has earlier made known his intentions to take over the job from President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.

Osinbajo who reportedly confided in a close friend that he would never contest against Asiwaju Bola Tinubu stunned many when he made his declaration on Monday, April 11, 2022 exactly two months after Tinubu made his intentions known to the public after consulting President Muhammadu Buhari in a closed door meeting in Abuja.

The Osinbajo’s declaration which at the moment is the biggest news in Nigeria with discussions and narratives on radio, tv, newsstands and the social media is claimed to be an orchestration of  one man, Senator Babafemi Ojudu , a Special Adviser to President Buhari on Political Matters.

Ojodu is believed to have spear-headed a team of strategists working for the Vice-President’s ambition for 2023 and as people within the corridors of power know that he has the VP’S ears and played an instrumental role in the declaration.

While pundits opined that Osinbajo is the President’s preferred candidate, others reasoned that the declaration by Amaechi has thrown the game open as the Transport Minister is said to also be close to the President.

Tinubu and Osinbajo have remained the most talked about of all the people that had shown interest in becoming the President.

While many see Osinbajo’s declaration as a game plan that has the approval of Tinubu, others think the ambition is just another betrayal that usually clouds the space in politics.

N20bn: Tinubu, Alpha Beta Ex-MD Settle Out Of Court

Senator Bola Tinubu

The controversy surrounding the alleged transfer of over N20bn ordered by the All Progressives Congress leader, Bola Tinubu from Alpha Beta to some private business accounts has taking a new turn as the former Managing Director of Alpha Beta Consulting, Dapo Apara, the current Managing Director of the company, Akin Doherty and Tinubu have begun discussions on a possible out-of-court settlement.
The lawyer to Apara, the plaintiff, Mr Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa (SAN) said this before the High Court of Lagos State sitting at the Tafawa Balewa Square on Tuesday, that the order made on November 2, 2021, for substituted service of all court processes on Tinubu had been complied with by the court bailiff.
Adegboruwa stated that the bailiff served Tinubu on November 24, 2021, at his No. 26 Bourdillon Road, Ikoyi, address through the courier service of DHL, adding that an affidavit of service had been filed by the bailiff to confirm this position and the court looked through its records and confirmed the position as stated by the lawyer.
Adegboruwa also informed the court that the parties and their counsel had met on several occasions with a view to resolving all the issues in controversy amicably and to this end, proposed terms of settlement had been exchanged, which might have explained the absence of the defendants and their counsel in court.
The senior advocate then urged the court to grant more time for the parties to consolidate on their settlement talks and Justice Aishat Opesanwo subsequently adjourned the case till March 24, 2022.
It will be recalled that Apara filed the suit early last year seeking to hold the defendants accountable for financial transactions in Alpha Beta.
In the suit filed by Adegboruwa on behalf of Apara, the former MD said Tinubu controls Alpha Beta, a tax consulting firm that has exclusive rights to monitor and generate revenue on behalf of the Lagos State Government.
Apara, who had in 2018 written a petition to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission accusing Alpha Beta of N100bn tax fraud, asked the court to compel the firm to pay him his entitlements even as he alleged that Tinubu was the one that got him removed from his position for investigating the firm’s finances.

I’ve lost a confidant! Teslim Folarin Breaks Down (what Akala’s death means to his guber ambition)

Oyo Senator and one of the gubernatorial hopefuls in the coming election, Senator Teslim Folarin wept like a child when he visited the Ogbomoso home of the late Chief Bayo Alao-Akala yesterday evening.
Dressed in ankara with his signature cap to match, the Senator who was ushered into the expansive living room of the house could not hide his emotions as he lamented the loss, claiming Akala was his confidant while also narrating his last conversation with him.
Pundits across Oyo State has rated Akala’s death a huge blow on the ambition of Senator Teslim Folarin to cinch the APC governorship ticket in 2023.
It is said that the late Senator Abiola Ajimobi and Akala had both perfected plans to make Folarin the party flagbearer, but when Ajimobi died, the lawmaker relied on Akala’s experience, followership and connection with the powers that be in APC to actualize his dream.
Akala is a known supporter of Senator Bola Tinubu who was said to have also relied on his strength to deliver Oyo State and Teslim’s candidature would have been sold to Tinubu for a large support over other aspirants.
With Akala’s death, Teslim’s camp had lost one of the pillars the guber ambition was hinged upon.
Many people believed Teslim has the right contacts in Abuja and Akala has been the one handling the ‘Bourdillion’ part for him, thus explaining the Senator’s agony when he heard the sad news.
