The Senate-President, Dr Bukola Saraki is multi-tasking. The politician that wears the tag of the strongman of Kwara politics is looking here and there, oiling the machinery to set the sail for his rumored presidential ambition and also finding the right man to succeed his godson, Governor Fatai Ahmed as the next governor of Kwara State.

Those in the know claimed that the Senate-President who aborted the ambition of his sister, Gbemisola to clear the path for Fatai to become a Governor is adopting a similar method to choose the next governor.

An insider at the Government House, Ilorin claimed Saraki consulted Governor Ahmed on the matter and they are both working on a list of names of people they think is fit to steer the ship of the State.

The source revealed that the name of the State’s Commissioner for Finance, Demola Banu is on the list.

Pundits in the State who understand the Senate-President’s body language believed Banu is likely to succeed Governor Fatai Ahmed.

They hinge their thoughts on the politician’s preference for someone that has a financial background.

Governor Fatai Ahmed was a banker before he was given an appointment by Saraki and he later became the Governor, they are placing their calculations on this premise based on Banu’s background as a banker and his 7 years experience as the State’s Commissioner for Finance.

A top politician in the State, also a protege of Dr Bukola Saraki, Hon. Moshood Mustapha is also said to have sought the support of his mentor to actualize his governorship ambition.

The special adviser to the Senate President and an ex lawmaker is claimed to have started his campaign against the advice of Saraki telling him ‘it’s not yet your turn’.
