Friends, Families Kick As Court Remands Jumoke Akinjide’s Husband, Aliyu Pategi In Prison

A Lagos State Magistrate’s court in Igbosere has ordered that the lawmaker representing Edu/Moro/Patigi constituency at the House of Representatives, Aliyu Pategi be remanded in the custody of the EFCC over his inability to produce his wife, former Minister of FCT, Oloye Jumoke Akinjide who is on the run over an alleged financial offences being investigated by the EFCC.
The EFCC had told the Judge that Pategi stood surety for his wife who has a pending criminal charge against her before the Federal High Court in Ibadan.
The EFCC had earlier charged Akinjide, a daughter of former Minister of Justice, Chief Richard Akinjide with money laundering, alleging that she collected N650m doled out by a former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources. Mrs Deziani Allison Maduekwe to compromise the 2015 general elections.
The former Minister whose husband, Pategi stood surety for in the sum of N650m jumped bail while the EFCC dragged her husband to court while asking him to show cause why he should not forfeit the money to the Federal Government.
Jumoke Akinjide who was arrested alongside another PDP chieftain, Chief Ayo Adeseun had since vanished immediately after her bail with no one having information to her whereabout.
Akinjide, a Queens Counsel married Honorable Pategi in a low profile wedding in Abuja some years ago.
Insiders revealed that the family members and friends of Aliyu Pategi had criticized Akinjide’s action.
An associate of the detained lawmaker told Papermacheonline that if truly she loves her husband she would have come out of hiding and face her ordeals. The friend who couldn’t hide his anger lamented ‘Aliyu was only trying to help, see how she has paid back. Is that love?’
Meanwhile the EFCC claimed to have intensified its search for the woman who fled the country immediately she was granted bail. The last that was heard of her was in 2016 when she was said to have ordered her drivers to sell some of the buses used for the presidential campaign of former President Goodluck Jonathan to some unidentified buyers.

EFCC Arrests Top Businesswoman, Aisha Achimugu

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) recently arrested prominent businesswoman and socialite, Aisha Achimugu, following allegations of fraudulent activities related to a multi-million-naira contract awarded to her company by a South-West state.
Achimugu, who serves as the Chairman of Bluewave Exploration and Production Limited, was detained last weekend after a civil society group filed a petition accusing her of involvement in dubious dealings concerning the contract. She was granted bail the following day but has been instructed to return for further questioning in the coming week.

Not really bothered by the investigation, the billionaire days after her arrest launched a 30-day feeding Ramadan programme where she targets the less-privileged.
