Lawyer Confirms Igboho, Wife’s Arrest In Cotonou…’its shocking, unlawful’

There is more to the story making the rounds concerning Yoruba freedom fighter, Sunday Igboho as his lawyer, Chief Yomi Aliyu (SAN) has confirmed his arrest by the INTERPOL from the Republic of Benin with his wife, Ropo.

In a statement by his lawyer, received by papermacheonline, he described the arrest as unlawful and shocking.

See the statement…

‘It is a shocking news that Nigerian Government has gotten Chief Sunday Adeyemo a.k.a Sunday Igboho Oosa arrested by INTERPOL in Republic of Benin notwithstanding the political nature of his offene and what the DSS earlier said that they refrained from arresting him so as not to overheat the polity of Southwestern Nigeria.
It is advisable for the INTERPOL and Benin Republic to be aware of the savagery acts committed in our clients house in the wee hours of 1st July, 202;  between 1.00am and 3.00am; shooting their way through and killing 2 people in the process and maliciously damaging his properties in the course of that illegal invasion.
Though the invading DSS officers did not state any reason for their invasion to our client  before or during invasion they later paraded 13 people and ammunitions which our client denied to be his as he is a peaceful campaigner for self-determination and it is on good record that the guns and ammunitions displayed were the same displayed in 2013 in another instance. This could be seen on 2013 Facebook though DSS has dismissed this on their website. But what they cannot deny is that when they were leaving our clients house they left with two corpses and people arrested and nothing more except2 guns belonging to the police escorts of Mr Adisa Saheed Olalekan.
One of the people they killed was one Mr Saheed Adisa Olalekan of Oladams Motors, Osogbo, who came to Sunday Igboho’s house to discuss auto business. He came with 2 police escorts. Though the policemen were not among the people paraded to the public their guns were among those displayed.
The Extradition Treaty of 1984 between Togo. Nigeria,Ghana and Republic of Benin excluded political fugitives. It also states that where the fugitive will not get justice because of discrimination and/or undue delay in prosecution the host country should not release the fugitive.
Now, Article 20 of African Charter on Human and Peoples Rights to which the four countries are signatories made agitation for self-determination a fundamental right to be protected by all countries. This made Chief Sunday Adeyemo a POLITICAL OFFENDER who cannot be deported and/or extradited by the good people of the Republic of Benin for any reason.
Secondly, that he cannot get Justice or even be killed is apparent in how those arrested in his house were detained for more than 21days now without access to their lawyers. Even the wife among them could not change her undies for 21days! Which inhuman treatment can be more this?
Again another wife of our client Mrs Ropo Adeyemo, a German Citizen, has been arrested together with her husband in Cotonou. What offence has she committed to warrant this?
We urge the good government of the Republic of Benin and international community, especially Germany, to rise up and curb the impunity of the Nigerian Government by refusing any application for extradition of our Client who already has application before ICC duly acknowledged’.

Igboho was said to have been arrested on Monday evening while attempting to travel out with his wife to Germany through Cotonou.

‘Seyi Makinde Is Committed to ensuring the conduct of credible Local Govt Election’  – Oyo OYSIEC Boss

The Chairman of the Oyo State Independent Electoral commission, Aare Isiaka Abiola Olagunju has emphatically stated that he is of the belief that the state’s Governor Seyi Makinde will not wish to manipulate the fast-approaching local government elections in the state.
He submitted that the governor has never hidden his determination to ensure that the polls are conducted freely and fairly.
Aare Olagunju, who just got named as one of those to be sworn in on December 14, 2020 as Senior Advocates of Nigeria revealed all these while featuring on a weekly radio show, ‘Parrot Xtra Hour on Radio’ anchored by Olayinka Agboola and broadcast live on the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State’s Oluyole 98.5 FM Ibadan, the state’s capital on Tuesday evening.
Olagunju also said that the Seyi Makinde-led government is committed to ensuring the conduct of credible local government election in the state while affirming that a level playing ground will be made available to all candidates irrespective of party affiliations.
“Those doubting His Excellency’s sincerity will be shocked because old things have passed away. I don’t believe he will do like others. Engineer Seyi Makinde is a sincere man who is dead serious to change the status quo. He said he will make sure the election is free. I believe him. I will never preside over a one-side election. Why will I want my name to be dragged in the mud? I have absolute faith in God that He will be with us as we carry out our assignment.
Olagunju also revealed how he got to become the chairman of OYSIEC saying “I am not His Excellency’s friend. Yes, we attended the University of Lagos together but we never met. He just summoned me one day and I went to meet him only to be told that I should become the chairman of OYSIEC. I am a complete bar man, a committed member of the Nigerian Bar Association. In fact, I have served the bar in different capacities. I recently left office as the Secretary General of NBA. So, you will understand where I am coming from.”
Olagunju then went ahead to assure residents of the state of the impartial nature of OYSIEC under him while emphasizing that all votes of the electorate will count during the conduct of the elections.
He said “We are going to be transparent in the electoral processes and all votes of the people must count, we are not going to allow politicians to induce us with baits as we are determined to conduct a credible election. God will uphold us.”
He, however, charged all politicians to allow internal democracy to prevail in their various political parties adding that this is actually where democracy comes to play. He reaffirmed that democracy is very important at the grassroots level as it will hasten even development in the state.
The yet-to-be-sworn-in SAN also took time to talk about dispensation of justice in Nigeria.
According to him “the challenges facing the judiciary in the country is known to us all. All I can say here is that I will wish to call for a concerted effort from the stakeholders to rise up to the challenges. The government, the counsels and the bench must all be involved in the search for solutions”.

Battle Royale! Lekki Residents Fight Chairman, Kayode Otitoju Over Financial Misconduct

‘…things fall apart, the centre cannot hold’  famous writer, Chinua Achebe must have seen beyond the years when he wrote this passage many years ago. The writer’s thought depicts the present situation in highbrow, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos where the residents are presently at war over some matters.

The man at the centre of the fight is the Chairman , Lekki Resident Association (LERA) ,  Sir Kayode Otitoju who was alleged of gross misconduct, high handedness and corruption.

The members of the association alleged Otitoju of closing down the Pavilion which stands as the office of the Association, impounding two Hilux cars meant for the security of the estate and sleeping with staff employed by the association.

Enraged members, Kenny Awe, Paul Kogolo and Wole Akala were at the forefront of the confrontation, reeling out allegations of mismanagement against the chairman who they accused to have contributed to the invasion of the estate by miscreants at the wake of the covid-19 pandemic.

The LERA chairman, Otitoju in his defence also alleged the trio of forming a parallel association against the interest of the residents.

The whatsapp group created for the interaction of the members of LERA could be likened to a war front as members engaged in free verbal war where weighty allegations were made.

A source within the estate members stated her disappointment, saying she couldn’t believe her eyes when she started reading messages and insults from people she thought were respectable in the society.

The war did not end on social media, the Chairman, LERA, Otitoju is seeking redress from a law court over the activities of those he labelled the ‘other camp’, while they have also briefed their lawyer who wrote Otitoju with an order to apologise to his client for libel and slander in a statement he was quoted to have called them cultists and scammers.
