Akwa Ibom’s Overrated Young Politician And The Burden Of Governance -Wole Arisekola

But understand this that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, and disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy. 2 Timothy 3:1-2.

The Holy Bible is an encyclopedia of knowledge and true reference to our past, present and future. When you look at the above verse, you will agree with me that the ugly events that enveloped Akwa Ibom State in the last two weeks can be attributed to the youthful exuberance of the state governor and his lieutenants. That is the catastrophic result of promoting an individual above his competence. When something goes wrong, you do not rush to blame others. Maturity is the ability to think, speak and act your feelings within the bounds of dignity. When Governor Udom Emmanuel threw decorum to the gutters by referring to his former boss, Senator Godswill Akpabio, as a man of no second address, one needs to ask him how come Senator Akpabio has no second address after holding office as a commissioner for six years and being Governor for eight years? Interestingly, the man he described as a man of no second address has been Senator for three and a half years, solicitor and advocate for 31 years. Haba! One begins to wonder if it is only a former staff of Mr. Jim Ovia of the Zenith Bank fame that has second addresses in Nigeria. In Yorubaland , we believe that the boss is not always right, but he is always the boss. Have you ever seen Governor Ambode of Lagos abusing Asiwaju Bola Tinubu publicly like Udom did to Senator Akpabio last week? Our orientation and training in Yorubaland will not allow us to descend that debasing low. This clearly shows Udom Emmanuel’s naivety, as well as his being unworthy of the executive office he presently occupies. You can only see people’s true colours when they think you are no longer beneficial to their lives. Isn’t it pathetic how we waste so much time on certain people and in the end they prove that they weren’t even worth a second of it? How fast people misbehave towards their mentors when they assume they have grown in importance! Power indeed intoxicates. This is how a man can descend so low to bite the fingers that fed him, and as they say, fire burns and most disastrously too, and it will surely do same for Udom Emmanuel at the fullness of time. Udom Emmanuel is a sinking ship.

All The Shocking Details As PDP Declares Adedamola Osun Flagbearer, Beats Gov Adeleke in Tense Primary

In a dramatic twist that has sent shockwaves through Osun’s political landscape, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has declared Hon. Adebayo Adedamola as its governorship flagbearer after a fiercely contested primary that saw him defeat incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke.

The keenly watched primary, held amid heavy security and intense party interest, drew party delegates from across the state. What many expected to be a smooth victory for the governor turned into a tightly fought race, with Fryo gaining momentum during delegate consultations and strategic bloc alignments.

According to party officials, Fryo clinched the majority of valid votes after what they described as a transparent, credible, and highly competitive exercise. His supporters erupted in celebration as the final tally was announced, chanting solidarity songs and hailing what they called “a new direction for Osun PDP.”

Adedamola, popularlcy called Fryo is said to be a close ally of APC stalwart, Iyiola Omisore. Fryo was among the people arrested over the killing of late Attorney General, Chief Bola Ige.

Political analysts say the upset signals a significant shift within the party’s power structure, as the result reflects growing agitation for fresh leadership and a repositioning of the party’s influence across local government blocs.

Governor Adeleke, who had sought the party’s ticket to secure a second term, was said to have congratulated Fryo in a closed-door exchange, though members of his camp are still digesting the unexpected outcome.

Fryo, in his acceptance speech, promised to unify the party, consolidate on its achievements, and present a formidable front ahead of the general elections. He described his victory as “a mandate for renewal” and urged party faithful to rally behind him for what he termed the decisive battle ahead.

With this development, all eyes are now on how the PDP navigates the post-primary atmosphere and prepares for a heated governorship election season in Osun State.

The destination wedding which took place at the Fairmont Hotel, Doha drew close friends, family and political associates, was nothing short of magical. With the exotic backdrop of Doha’s luxury setting, Jandor and his bride exchanged vows in an intimate but elegant ceremony that had the air of class, style and exclusivity.

What Ibadan Socialite, Fijabi’s Leak Audio Has Done To Minister Adelabu’s Guber Ambition

Bayo Adelabu

A recent viral moment has unexpectedly stirred the political waters for Power Minister Adebayo Adelabu’s 2027 gubernatorial bid in Oyo State. Here’s how it unfolded—and the fallout that followed:

An audio featuring Ibadan socialite, Chief Akinade Fijabi and an unidentified young man surfaced online.

In the audio, Fijabi, an Ibadan high Chief and singer, Wasiu Ayinde’s closest ally bared his thoughts on political bearings in Oyo State and centred it round the Minister for Power, Adebayo Adelabu.

The audio quickly gained traction, sparking laughter and debate across social media platforms in Oyo and beyond.

The audio briefly overshadowed Adelabu’s image and critics seized the moment to question his ability, business sense and highlight potential vulnerabilities in managing grassroots affairs.

Even before the audio, Adelabu’s return to APC and flirtation with a 2027 run had unsettled internal party dynamics. The audio gave fuel to factions already uneasy about his rapid elevation and perceived attempt at imposition.

APC hardliners and youth groups, who’ve openly criticized the party’s handling of aspirants like Adelabu, echoed that the viral moment underscores deeper frustration about favoritism .

Adelabu’s allies are downplaying the audio, arguing that public interactions reflect openness and a grassroots presence and qualities essential for statewide appeal. They’ve also pointed to his achievements, including boosting national grid capacity, as evidence of credible leadership .

Fijabi in the audio also shed some lights based on what he termed ‘reliable information’ on Governor Makinde’s Presidential ambition, claiming it was a plot to collapse the PDP in Oyo State for President Tinubu with an agreement that the Governor would be granted the request to install a successor.

The clip audio shifted part of the conversation from Adelabu’s technocratic record to his public persona. Analysts say managing optics now matters more than ever for his brand.
