Smart-X Takes Photography Beyond The Lens
Photographers have been advised to look beyond the lens in order to ensure that they stay relevant and maximize the endless opportunities available in the industry. The advice was given by different facilitators at the Smart-X ‘Beyond The Lens’ programme that was held at the Ibadan Business School some days ago.
Olumide Deleye, the Rector of Twim Arts Institute, Ibadan, disclosed that while new simple digital cameras, apps and software are making the job of photographers easier, they are also exposing the industry to vulnerability which allows amateurs and pretenders to take huge bites of businesses from the professionals.
While taking time to expose participants to personality branding, Omolara Olaosebikan, the CEO, Pixel Digital Studios, discussed the necessity of branding at both personal and business levels.
Kayode Adebayo, the founder of AMVEST, a business promotional platform admonished photographers to pay attention to networking and intellectual development. He also mentioned collaboration as a sure means of achieving sustainable success in creative business.
Yemi Omitola, the convener of ‘Beyond The Lens’, encouraged photographers to monitor trends, especially the changes that are taking place in the different areas of photography.
Tolani Alli, the official photographer to the immediate past Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi encouraged photographers to build teams. “There is no I in team. Build a team that can support you. I am a storyteller but I do collaborations. Do you know how much the person documenting Michael Jackson is making today? That is the thing about collaboration”, she said.
Miss Alli also posited that hard work has no substitute as she shared her experience while working at Apple Inc.

Excitement, Joy as Lagos Guber Hopeful, Jandor Marries in Qatar
It was a weekend of glamour, joy and excitement as Lagos politician and businessman, Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, tied the knot in faraway Qatar.
The destination wedding which took place at the Fairmont Hotel, Doha drew close friends, family and political associates, was nothing short of magical. With the exotic backdrop of Doha’s luxury setting, Jandor and his bride exchanged vows in an intimate but elegant ceremony that had the air of class, style and exclusivity.
Guests, many of whom jetted in from Lagos and Abuja, were treated to a blend of traditional Nigerian warmth and Middle Eastern splendour. From the lavish décor to the exquisite cuisine, it was an affair that reflected both cultures in perfect harmony.
For Jandor, who has continued to attract attention on the Lagos political scene, the wedding to his heartthrob, Bukola
was a refreshing moment of happiness, away from the hustling pulse of politics. His bride, radiant in her flowing attire, was the toast of the evening, with cameras capturing every dazzling smile.
As the couple began their journey together, family and well-wishers showered them with prayers, gifts and best wishes. The event, insiders say, will be remembered for its intimacy, its class, and the joy it radiated across the circles of Lagos high society.
