The report that the name of the flagbearer of  Accord Party in the last governorship elections in Oyo State, Bayo Adelabu appeared on the Ministerial list submitted by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the National Assembly has sparked off  reactions.

Adelabu in the last elections polled a paltry 38,357 votes trailing widely behind the winner, PDP’s Seyi Makinde who had 563,756 votes and APC’s Teslim Folarin’s 256,685 votes.

A chieftain of the APC who spoke under the condition of anonymity to papermacheonline expressed huge disappointment while saying the list should better be an imagination. In his words, he said ‘it’s quite troubling and if it’s true that’s a total disappointment. How would you explain bypassing the people that used their whole lives to work for your party and pick someone that left your party because of personal ambition. I can only wish that the list is not real’.

It’s joy in the camp of the PDP as party members claimed the Governor, Seyi Makinde was consulted by the President before picking Adelabu.

It was silence from the camp of Senator Teslim Folarin as some of his aides declined making any comments over the list.

Bayo Adelabu, a former Deputy-Governor of the Central Bank was the flagbearer of the APC in 2019, he lost the election to Seyi Makinde and left the APC to join Accord Party when he couldn’t win the party ticket at the primaries, he lost to Senator Teslim Folarin.

In Ibadan, the ministerial list was the major discuss as people on the streets, party secretariats, offices and relaxation centers were seen huddled together dissecting the list and expressing concerns.

Other names said to have appeared on the Ministerial list (first batch) are Nyesom Wike, Dele Alake, Wale Edun, Lateef Fagbemi, Olubunmi Ojo, Ahmed Dangiwa, Nasir El-Rufai and many others.
