Cash Crunch; Why Alao Akala Will Not Contest Again In 2019

Published

Former Governor of Oyo State, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala has a dream he doesn’t know how to implement .

In the political setting in Oyo State today, the ex governor is a force to be reckoned with. Not only did he do well by improving the lives of his people when he was in government, he was regarded as a man of the people, a ‘buje budanu’ (spender) that spent the money in the State coffers judiciously.

At the moment the reverse seems to be the case with the politician.

Papermacheonline gathered that Akala’s  friendship with the present Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi is premised on the understanding by both camps that the Governor would not support someone unpopular to take over from him, Akala was said to had pointedly told Governor Ajimobi ‘if you do that, I will contest against him and win’.

Akala and former senator, Teslim Folarin both decamped to the APC some months ago.

Insiders revealed that Akala’s threat to run against Governor Ajimobi’s candidate is an empty won, they revealed that the Ogbomoso born-politician is like a dog in a book, he cannot bite!

People close to  Akala revealed he doesn’t have the money to run an election, it was just a mere wish.

Akala, testing on his popularity and influence was said to have reached out to some friends in order to sail his campaign and he was said to have been disappointed as many of his friends gave him  cold shoulder signalling an end to whatever ambition he has in 2019.

The former Governor has a lot going for him on the political front, he presently has a pending court case with the EFCC.

There are rumors that the former governor still nurtures an ambition that keeps the people asking how and why he wants to come govern the State for another term.

Achimugu, who serves as the Chairman of Bluewave Exploration and Production Limited, was detained last weekend after a civil society group filed a petition accusing her of involvement in dubious dealings concerning the contract. She was granted bail the following day but has been instructed to return for further questioning in the coming week.

Beyond her corporate endeavors, Achimugu is well-known in elite circles across Lagos and Abuja. Her social media presence showcases a lavish lifestyle, featuring exotic vacations, exclusive yacht parties, and private jet travels.
